Significant advances have been made in solid-state imaging technologies that expand the visual experience and capability to levels far beyond the limitation of human eyes. Various applications range from life enhancement such as smartphone, AR/VR, surveillance, and automobile, to visions in hard-to-reach places like biomedical imaging. While the CMOS image-sensor (CIS) market remains fastest growing, new technologies and new materials are opening up new dimensions, leading to new applications and new challenges.
To promote techniques in both system and circuit levels to tackle various challenges as the requirements for image quality, efficiency, and levels of integration keep increasing and to provide insightful guidelines for intelligent vision in the years to come, OJCAS is introducing a Special Section focused on Circuits and Systems for Smart Imaging.
Innovative and original submissions are solicited in areas including (but not limited to) the following:
- Image sensors and SoCs
- Automotive and LiDAR sensors
- Sensing for AR/VR
- THz imaging systems
The Publication Fees/Article Processing Charges (APCs) for the accepted papers will be completely subsidized by the CAS Society. Hence these publications will be completely free of charge to the authors.

IEEE Open Journal of Circuits and Systems is a new gold fully open access journal that publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed papers covering the theory, analysis, design, tools, and implementation of circuits and systems. This includes their theoretical foundations, applications, and architectures, as well as circuits and systems implementation of algorithms for signal and information processing.
